Westphalian Horse Museum Has a New Patron

Hereditary Prince Rudolph von Croÿ, the master of the wild horses at Merfelder Bruch and the president of the Equestrian Sports Association in Westphalia, has sat on the board of the association to support the Westphalian Horse Museum for a long time and now takes over the patronage of the museum.

At the recommendation of his predecessor, the Prince von Croÿ succeeds Baron Constatin Heereman von Zuydtwyck, who put himself out for the museum for 18 years. Being a member from day one, he made significant contributions leading to the success of the museum.

New Mongolian Foals in the Children and Horse Park

On April 25 around 6:30pm, the horses’ first offspring of this year was born. The experienced Mogolian mare “Gaslan” gave birth to a filly. The birth went without any complications, and mother and daughter are doing well. On May 16, the mare “Naidal” delivered a healthy colt. Now, two Mongolian foals frolic around on the grounds of the horse park. Both mares have lived together with Dulmen ponies and Piotou donkeys on this site since 2005. In 2008, both mares already delivered successfully.

The film accompanying the exhibition

It started all with a poultry show, a few native animals, an ape house, and a bear pit. These were the attractions of the early zoo in Münster when it opened its doors in June 1875. The film tells the story of the opening and the development of a popular tourist attraction in Münster.
